Installation Completed for Two 10,000 m³ Biogas Holders 

Cattle Manure Treatment Project in Zhangjiakou

Zhangjiakou lies in a transitional zone between the Bashang grasslands and surrounding farming and pastoral areas. The region has a well-established livestock industry and is home to many large cattle farms.

 As these farms expand, managing manure and farm effluent has become a growing challenge for both farm operators and the environment. The two biogas holders are key components of the project’s 

anaerobic digestion system. They store the biogas produced during digestion, balance fluctuations in gas production and demand, and help maintain a stable supply pressure.

Once the project is operational, anaerobic digestion will turn cattle manure into useful resources. The biogas can be used to generate electricity, provide heat, or be upgraded to biomethane. The solid and 

liquid digestate can be applied to farmland as organic fertilizer, linking livestock farming, manure treatment, energy recovery, and crop production. By reducing pollution from direct manure discharge, 

the project will help improve the local environment while providing nearby farms with clean energy and high-quality organic fertilizer.

In recent years, Zhangjiakou has prioritized environmental protection and promoted the recovery of resources from livestock and poultry waste through biogas projects and circular agriculture. 

This project is part of the city’s efforts to make livestock farming more sustainable, support rural revitalization, and contribute to China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. The project

 team will now focus on commissioning the equipment and preparing for routine operation so that the biogas holders can operate safely and reliably and the project can begin delivering its benefits.
