Installation of a 500 m³ Double Membrane Gas Holder Completed for a Biological Wastewater Treatment Project

Recently, a biological wastewater treatment project undertaken by Qingdao Haiyue Membrane Structure Co., Ltd. in Dezhou, Shandong Province, reached an important milestone. The supporting 500 m³ double membrane gas holder was successfully installed and passed the gas-tightness test on the first attempt. Its completion has further improved the project’s biogas collection, storage, and constant-pressure supply system, providing reliable gas supply for subsequent biogas power generation and heating applications.

The wastewater treatment project features a large treatment capacity and a high organic load, enabling the anaerobic treatment process to continuously generate biogas. To address the imbalance between biogas production and downstream consumption, the project was equipped with a 500 m³ double membrane gas holder for buffer storage and flexible regulation. The gas holder automatically adjusts its storage volume according to changes in the amount of biogas produced, helping balance fluctuations between gas production and consumption, reduce biogas flaring, and improve energy recovery efficiency.

During construction, the Haiyue project team faced a tight schedule and frequent coordination with multiple contractors working simultaneously on-site. Through careful planning and efficient organization, the team maintained strict quality control over every critical stage, including bottom membrane laying, inner and outer membrane installation, anchoring and sealing, electrical wiring, and system commissioning. Thanks to the team’s close cooperation, the installation was completed ahead of schedule. All performance indicators met the acceptance requirements, earning high recognition from the project owner.
