A large-scale biogas project in Jingjiang, Jiangsu Province, is now in operation with 17,500 m³ of biogas storage capacity — 2 × 5,000 m³ independent gas holders and 5 × 1,500 m³ integrated gas holders. Biogas output rarely stays flat: it moves with feedstock quality, temperature and digester loading, while gas demand from CHP units, boilers and upgrading systems follows its own rhythm — storage is what keeps the two in balance. The two 5,000 m³ standalone holders serve as the plant's central buffer, each on its own foundation and easy to inspect, repair or expand without disturbing the digestion process; they absorb surplus gas during production peaks and release it again when demand rises. The five 1,500 m³ integrated holders work closer to the source: coupled to the digestion units, they shorten the gas path, reduce piping and pressure losses, and spread storage across the site, so a single unit offline does not stop the plant. Together the two systems provide 17,500 m³ of buffering capacity, stable pressure and flow for downstream equipment, modular maintenance, and a layout that adapts to almost any site condition — while cutting the amount of surplus biogas that has to be flared.
